Keg have been experimenting with their sound ever since their conception. Over the 6 years as a band they have garnered international attention for their frenetic live performances and unwavering commitment to not settling on one sound. Since their inception they have supported old and new talents including; Charles Hayward (This Heat), Squid, Warmduscher, Brainiac and played festivals such as End of the Road, Green Man and Simple Things, touring extensively throughout Europe.
Their new album ‘Relaxin’ Next To the Hospital’ only further cements this ideology. At once tender and vitriolic the album is full of contradiction, each song taking a sojourn into their myriad of influences. From hefty chunks of hardcore, to Steely Dan leaning croonerish tracks the album is reminiscent of Ween in its commitment to a noncommittal sound. What feels new is a level of vulnerability which has often been hinted at in previous releases, but here feels fully established. The instrumentation is far more expansive with woodwind and brass provided by an amazing array of players including Rosa Brook (Pozi), Felicity Latham (Skydaddy,Ninush), Pete Piscov (Hill Collective) and Phil Smith (Hill Collective). - Albert Haddenham
